Mae Ysgol O.M.Edwards yn rhan o Gynllun Ysgol Iach Gwynedd. Prif amcanion y cynllun yw:

  • Datblygu agwedd gadarnhaol ysgol-gyfan tuag at fwyd a maeth a sicrhau bod bwyta’n iach yn cael ei hyrwyddo
  • Datblygu’r ysgol fel man gwaith sy’n hyrwyddo iechyd cymdeithasol, corfforol ac emosiynol pob aelod o staff
  • Atgyfnerthu hunan werth a hyrwyddo iechyd meddwl yr holl ddisgyblion
  • Dangos ymrwymiad i wella amgylchedd yr ysgol, er hyrwyddo iechyd a lles holl gymuned yr ysgol
  • Sicrhau cynlluniau tymor hir sy’n rhoi cyfle i bob disgybl gymryd rhan mewn gweithgareddau corfforol yn gyson
  • Sicrhau bod yr ysgol gyfan yn amgylchedd di-fwg, sy’n pwysleisio manteision peidio ysmygu
  • Sicrhau fod gan yr ysgol Bolisi Atal Cyffuriau a gefnogir gan raglen addysg a gynlluniwyd ar gyffuriau ac alcohol
  • Dangos ymrwymiad i Addysg Rhyw a Pherthnasoedd trwy feddu ar Bolisi a rhaglen addysg a gynlluniwyd
  • Sicrhau bod yr ysgol yn ystyried diogelwch yn flaenoriaeth gan weithredu’n rhagweithiol yn hytrach nag yn adweithiol.

Ysgol O. M. Edwards is part of the Gwynedd Healthy Schools Scheme.  The principal objectives of the scheme are to:

  • develop a positive whole-school attitude towards food and nutrition, ensuring that healthy eating is promoted;
  • develop the school as a workplace that promotes the social, physical and emotional health of every member of staff;
  • reinforce self-worth and promote the mental health of all pupils;
  • display a commitment to improving the school environment, so as to promote the health and well-being of the entire school community;
  • ensure long-term schemes that provide every pupil with an opportunity to participate in physical activities on a regular basis;
  • ensure that the entire school is a non-smoking environment that emphasizes the advantages of not smoking;
  • ensure that the school has a Drug-prevention Policy supported by a planned drug and alcohol education programme;
  • display a commitment to Sex and Relationships Education by possessing a planned education programme and policy;
  • ensure that the school considers safety to be a priority, by being proactive rather than reactive.
