Ysgol Gynradd Sirol (Cyfnod Allweddol 1 a 2) yw’r ysgol hon. Mae’n ysgol ddyddiol ddwyieithog gydaddysgol.

Croeso cynnes i chwi i dudalennau gwefan Ysgol O M Edwards.  Cafodd yr ysgol ei henwi ar ôl un o feibion enwocaf Llanuwchllyn, sef Syr O.M. Edwards (1858 – 1920). Cafodd ei eni yng Nghoed-y-pry ac wedi cyfnodau yn diwtor hanes yn Rhydychen, bu am flwyddyn yn aelod seneddol dros Feirionnydd. Ym 1907 cafodd ei ddyrchafu i fod yn brif arolygydd ysgolion Cymru – y cyntaf i’w benodi i’r swydd honno. Gwnaeth waith aruthrol i addysg Cymru ond mae’n debyg mai ym myd cyhoeddi llyfrau Cymraeg i oedolion a phlant y gwelwyd ei ddylanwad fwyaf.

Ei fab oedd Syr Ifan Ab Owen Edwards - sylfaenodd Urdd Gobaith Cymru. Mae cofgolofn i’r ddau am y clawdd â chae’r ysgol. Ein braint yw cael bod yng nghysgod y ddau arbennig yma, a cawn ein hysbrydoli’n aml gan eu gwaith a’u doethineb.

Ein nod yw creu ysgol gyfeillgar a hapus sy’n rhoi pob anogaeth i’ch plentyn ddysgu a datblygu hyd eithaf ei allu yn ystod ei amser hefo ni. Ceisiwn sicrhau bod yr ysgol yn le diogel a braf ble caiff eich plentyn ei werthfawrogi a’i drin fel unigolyn. Ceisiwn annog y plant i fod yn aelodau cyfrifol o’r ysgol a’u cymdeithas leol ac i dyfu’n bersonau sy’n ystyriol o eraill ac o’u hamgylchedd. Amcanwn i roi’r addysg orau bosib i’n disgyblion.

Y mae perthynas agos rhwng y cartref a’r ysgol yn bwysig, a gwyddom y cawn bob cydweithrediad gennych yn hynny o beth. Os oes gennych unrhyw gwestiynau neu ymholiadau pellach ynglŷn ag unrhyw fater, y mae croeso i chi gysylltu gyda’r ysgol.

This school is a County Primary School (Key Stages 1 and 2). It is a co-educational, bilingual, day school.

A warm welcome to the website for Ysgol O M Edwards. The school was named after one of the most famous sons of Llanuwchllyn, Sir O. M. Edwards (1858 – 1920).  He was born in Coed-y-pry and following time spent as a history lecturer in Oxford, served as M.P. for Meirioneth for a year.  In 1907, he was appointed chief inspector of schools in Wales, the first to be appointed to this position.  His work for education in Wales was immense but it is likely that his greatest influence lay in the world of Welsh-language book publishing for adults and children.

His son was Sir Ifan ab Owen Edwards, the founder of Urdd Gobaith Cymru.  A memorial to both is situated just beyond the boundary of the school field.  It is our privilege to be in the shadow of these two, and we are often inspired by their work and wisdom.

Our aim is to create a friendly and happy school, which provides your child with every encouragement to learn and develop to the best of his/her ability during the time spent with us.  We will endeavour to ensure that the school is a safe and pleasant place where your child is appreciated and treated as an individual.  We will attempt to encourage the children to become responsible members of the school and their local community and to become people who are considerate of others and of their environment.  We aim to provide every pupil with the best possible education.

A close relationship between the home and school is vital, and we know that we can rely on your co-operation in this.  If you have any further questions or enquiries on any matter, you are welcome to contact the school.
